Here comes the first of a so hoped and awaited list of Pizzico release parties: Tabernacle ep1 is out now and as it sounds weird and heterogeneous the location must be unusual as well, so say welcome to label head Billy Bogus and his proud esquire Johnny Paguro (do not forget to check his brand new website), they will spin that disco & house shit from 7 pm to 00 at Squad Galleria, just opening the fotografia europea week in Reggio Emilia, one of the most important event about photography in the north of Italy.

The Tabernacle Compilation – ep 1 (12″) by Pizzico Records

For some months we from “pizzicombo” asked ourselves how to celebrate worthily five years of releases, parties, hangovers (we do not deny), met people, delusions, stars touching, work, friendship and big fun. Since our activity have been more digital than physical it seemed legitimate and right for our artists to make a second compilation on vinyl, the first one was “for an old dope, new aesthetics” on cd, out of any stocks but soon available on our online shop, again.

Tabernacle  is more than a release, we just feeling it as a religious idolatry, and religion is music or better club music.
If the club we mind is belonging to past or future it doesn’t matter, what we know is that it seems not belonging to present cause present seems not to exist anymore: “we’ re all enmeshed in an immediate availabilty of what has been, we’ re all trapped in a geography of eternal availabilty”.

Well this compilation, built of three eps, will be just enough available: on vinyl.

Yes friends there will be some huge singles extacted from the whole work but the origin of the idea with different artists, friends, styles, attitudes, moods will be on vinyl only… so start to fill the cart of your fav portal, remove the dust from your turntable and enjoy this timeless clubby sound.

Tabernacle is material, Soul isn’t …
but at any rate “soul” doens’t look so digital this time.

After the live set Billy will delight the dancefloor with some of his old/new disco shit and some brand:new deep vibes. Here a new mixtape free to download by the man, rocking desks at one of his resident night called Bottega Elettrica.

After the beloved “Crazy Mambo Dancer” (and lot of fun parties) Pizzico just say welcome back to the little prince of funk Nic 2 Birilli.

With unrestrained pleasure we watched him grow up in sometimes strange and sick contemporary club culture, keeping the faith with his blaxploited, funky and disco background. Feeling adult and able to shake butts everywhere with his vinyl rarities and endless energy Nic is now resident at legendary MOXA club based in Mantova (Italy) and Pizzico official party DISCOBLAST.

Boogie Ornella is the funk side of this “must dance” EP and it feels like a boogie disco track with a strong percussion line nicely looking at “Spanish Harlem”, surrounding bassline, wah guitar, handclaps, cowbell, clave, shaker and congas without neglecting the oscure disco kick, all strictly played live by Nic and his cousin Patt! Ten Times Más Barato is the Blaxploited side of the release with a sort of wah raggae guitar, space synth solo, cosmic reverbs clashing with a sunny (but crooked) horns loop.

Remixers are hot baby: Things Happen, after being n.1 on Juno chart with their Rare Things Happen Vol. 1 for Strictly Groove Recordings, turn the synths on for a crazy & deep house version of the title track. Loudtone, after one of the most cult-releases on Pizzico with Liquid Liquid’s Dennis Young, unexpectedly peep out again with a torbid deep disco version of Ten Times Más Barato, playing a dope vocal break imbued with dirty groove.

So let’s get funked once again.

A Xmas tale.

Hey guys what’s that noise? It’s Santa Claus from the chimneypot, finally! Come in man, don’t be shy!
Hey Santa what did you bring for my sweet and curious kids?
Playstations? IPods? Toys? MONEY? Nope?
Ohhhh.. Music.. Mushrooms Project new single.. Well we all really appreciate your originality and courage Santa but you must admit that these seem not the proper times to give original dope music as a present, chiefly to pure, innocent kids.

Let me think.

I will buy some new clothes .. or toys.. or stuff in general for my children and i will give this strange, huge gift to my old starving hi-fi system and.. please guys remeber to not enter that room when your daddy is listening to Mushrooms Project and if you see some smoke coming out from the window D O N’ T call the firemen, it’s alright!

This stupid past / present / future Pizzico Xmas tale is just to introduce the new single of the notorious Mushrooms Project, a ‘travelling without moving’ duo from Parma, Italy, already recruits for outstanding labels as Under The Shade, Nang, Dwdk, Mad On The Moon but we must remark that before all these hyper-cool-disco-benchmarks the two dear fellows were released by Pizzico Records, notably at Christmas time with the dopest tunes you ever heard.

Well, just to reassure y’all, this year it’s the same.

Tori Teppanyaki (succulent japanese delicacy) is the empteenth crazy project from the Mushroom, dilated, literally cosmic, sounding like a ‘Flash Gordon’ new soundtrack version with crystallized synths, desert grooves and a sci-fi atmosphere that probably fits kind of martian Xmas time, more than a terrestrial one to be honest.
No remixes, as the tradition enjoins.
Ah! It’s the 30th release of Pizzico Nobel too, so follow the daddy in the story and please celebrate with us relishing a big huge Sushi dinner!

Billy Bogus

His first album Night Movie for London Nang sounds like a cinedelic creature, born from cinema turbulences and spurs that Billy got in his life: b-movie, sci-fi, noir, college movies and many other weird video disturbances brought him to search for an ideal night soundtrack. NM is defined by Dj Mag “the cool fine alternative to the contemporary disco scene” or simply “a great debut” by Blow Up magazine. Dimitri from Paris defined it as “a big mixture of samples with a great atmosphere” or people like Aeroplane or Faze Action simply lovin’ it, the fact is that after pushing things forward for Pizzico maison, Billy is releasing stuff for many labels and he feels ready to discover unknown worlds with his motley dj set, once again.Forthcoming “Glamouflage” on WE ARE OPILEC! compilation (Opilec Music) with Giorgio Moroder, Todd Terje, The Units, No More Klein & Mbo, Beppe Loda, I-Robots.

Johnny Paguro

The human shellfish Johnny Paguro is ready to go outta shell and rock again.
His dj set feels unexpectable: waved disco filled with deep & early house, ‘cause fresh fish doesn’t stink!
His remixes and release for Pizzico and Mad On The Moon got great reactions from artists as Rodion, The Ooft!, Duff Disco, Space Ranger and many more.

Andrew Weatherall

Does he really need to be introduced? Nobody thinks so.

Main character of the last twenty years english pop scene is producer, remixer and tout-court artist. From the production of Primal Scream “Screamadelica” to Björk, Siouxsie, New Order, My Bloody Valentine and (more recently) Fuck Buttons and Warpaint. His influence to all modern and european music is invaluable, behind legendary project as Sabres Of Paradise and Two Lone Swordsmen, true pioneers of fusion between electro, rock, dub and funk. During last years Andy totally feeling absorbed by his “solo” projects and albums where even he taking a stab in singing!

His dj set sounds hypnotic, techy, disco, unexpetced.. simply unbelievable.

Since the release of his debut 12″ on the legendary Belgian edits imprint Mindless Boogie two years ago, British DJ and producer Louis Jaquet aka Kid Who has gone from strength to strength, making his way with jazzin’ dj sets in London, his Town.
With one EP and a string of remixes under his belt for artists including Miguel Migs, Crystal Fighters and Jupiter, his music has received support from Aeroplane, Diskjokke, Faze Action and Tim Sweeney to name a few, and he’s certainly showing no sign of slowing down.

Now Pizzico got him for full-bodied ep entirely dedicated to the dancefloor: the original tracks are literally dope, The “Major” and the “Minor” Ursas represent two faces of the same groovy spirit: hypnotic musical trips to a clubby kind of nirvana.

Cadenza piles it on with a vertigo of disco minimal cuts and a sturdy rhythm, remixes are fancy: Fratelli Riviera (aka Michele Tessadri) turn Ursa Major into a junkie house hit, then Enzo Ponzio (the homeboy is back?) gives to Cadenza a “thievery” touch, back in the daze..
